Hate Yourself is a single release taken from his debut EP Fear & Self-Loathing released in January 2024.

Hate Yourself reflects a typical Gen Z relationship, the fear of missing out & getting it on for the sake of it, to keep up appearances etc. and ends with the realisation the only thing they have in common is the fact that not only don't they like one another but they don't even like themselves.

Told in a semi-biographical way, to the backdrop of a summery, pop dance baseline, BAG HEAD tells the story with lyrical wit and self-deprecation  bordering on pathos, as the song builds to a tumultuous, almost punk-like, rock-a-billy end.

BAG HEAD – K

Singer-songwriter Damon Bell comes from Cornwall. After having the idea for BAG HEAD in 2017, Damon saw the project advance while at University in London in 2018.

There have been numerous line-ups whilst they gigged around the London area, seeing them play The Amersham Arms, The Rocksteady, The Underbelly and The Star in Guildford to name a few. They were shortlisted for Glastonbury 2020 Emerging Talent — a huge achievement — only to find 2020 Glasto cancelled due to Covid! Don’t give up Damon, based on this track there will, I’m absolutely sure, be many more opportunities.

K, released on December 1st is, in their words: “old school slacker rock energy infused with BAG HEAD’s own take on modern pop melodies. The vocals provide a contemporary commentary on a drug fuelled evening for Gen Z teen and twenty somethings in small town, nowheresville and the ultimate realisation of what a waste of time it all is.”

This is their first visit to Fresh Faves, with songwriting as good as this it will not be their last, the track is full of angst, sadness and longing…

BAG HEAD was heard all across the South West of the UK thanks to BBC Radio Introducing and nationally via BBC Radio Sounds last weekend, Saturday 7th October. The song that was heard was ‘On My Own’ and will be BAG HEADs second release from the eagerly anticipated first EP ‘Fear and Self-Loathing' due for release in January 2024.

We will be getting to hear ‘On My Own’ a little sooner than that with the band announcing a scheduled release date of Friday 3rd November 2023 for the second single.

BAG HEAD will release the first single off the long awaited “Fear and Self-Loathing”  EP on Friday 6th October 2023 on all streaming channels.

The single “Feeling Great” was initially recorded in the UK in 2021 with a remix and master and new intro being added in BAG HEAD's new home in Australia in 2023.

Further singles are planned for November and December and the formal release of the entire EP will be in January 2024.
